COMMUNITY MEDIA
The IE Media Roundtable’s mission is to coordinate, support, and grow investments in media enterprises to serve the region’s residents more effectively—including the nearly 70 percent from Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and other communities of color. This space elevates their stories, amplifies their voices, and addresses issues in a culturally competent manner that promotes equality and dignity for all. The Roundtable advances this mission through economies of scale and innovation, focusing on signature events and coordinated news coverage, fundraising, and advocacy strategies.
OUR IMPACT
The IE Media Roundtable fosters collaboration across the media sector, ensures that appropriate support and resources are provided to the industries that need them most, and maintains communities well-informed on the most pressing issues impacting them.
STRENGTHS
COVERAGE & STORYTELLING
Increased coverage of communities of color on all issues, including those traditionally are not considered to be “ethnic issues” (i.e., education, health, housing, economic development, labor force, and more).
COORDINATION & PARTNERSHIPS
Strengthen partnerships between community media, philanthropy, community based organizations and government agencies to combat misinformation, and increase the levels of cultural competence for outreach & public information campaigns.
FUNDING & RESOURCES
Increased recognition of, and financial support for, community-serving media by government agencies, philanthropy, and corporations. Identify and develop joint grant applications with coordinated work plans to effectively reach and serve the region’s diverse residents through proven experience and methods.
EDITORIAL ENDORSEMENTS
Provide a platform for amplification, information and endorsements of candidates & ballot propositions that impact the region.
